Yemeni sources said that the Tihama plains in Hajjah and Hodeidah governorates, northwestern Yemen, witnessed heavy rains not seen in decades, which led to floods and torrential rains, amid human losses and extensive damage to private and public property and cutting off roads, according to our correspondent.

According to the sources, the heavy rains that fell along the western coast of Yemen led to the deaths and missing persons, the exact number of which is not yet known, in addition to turning a number of districts in the two governorates, which are under the control of the Houthi militias, into disaster areas.

According to the sources, torrential torrents witnessed in the districts of Marawah, Sukhna, Mansuriyah, Zabid and Bayt al-Faqih, as a result of large amounts of rainfall for about 10 hours, resulting in victims and dozens of missing people in a number of villages and towns in the central districts of Hodeidah, and great losses and damage to citizens' homes, properties, farms and livestock after they were drowned.

The sources indicated that some villages are still isolated and besieged and their news is cut off, in light of the continued rains, torrents, winds and thunderstorms, amid the absence of the role of local authorities and civil defense in rescuing thousands of affected families.

In parallel, the suffering of citizens in Hajjah governorate continues, two days after the Yemeni government declared four districts affected by the unprecedented rains and floods in the governorate adjacent to the southwestern border of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to our correspondent.

According to media sources in Hajjah, the districts of Aflah al-Yemen, Midi, Hiran, Haradh and Abs witnessed heavy rains during the past hours, while floods coming from the "Anqan and Shiras" valleys washed away parts of the inhabited "Bani Yus" isolation, according to our correspondent.

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) announced that more than 28,000 people have been affected in the past hours in four districts in northern Hajjah governorate as a result of torrential rains.

The United Nations had earlier warned that Yemen is at high risk of flooding and flooding due to torrential rains.

The Meteorological Center warned that Hurricane Africa is approaching the Gulf of Aden in the coming hours, with expectations that it will be accompanied by strong winds and weather fluctuations.
